Last updated

ChessQuant is a chess analysis and preparation tool that is still in development. This page explains what data this website processes when you visit it or write to us, why, and what your rights are. It sets no cookies, saves no identifiers on your device and asks for nothing from you. There is no consent banner: the two measurements described below store nothing in your browser, and you can object to them at any time.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Kamil Trebunia, who runs ChessQuant. You can reach us at hello@chessquant.com.

When you visit the site

Hosting. The site is served by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. To deliver pages and keep the service secure, Vercel's servers process the technical data every web request carries: your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. Vercel processes this on our behalf. The request logs we can see are kept for 30 days.

Usage statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they view. It does not use cookies and stores nothing on your device. For each page view it records the time, the page URL and route, the referring site and filtered query parameters. It also records your approximate location (country, region and city, derived from your IP address, which is not stored with the statistics), your operating system and browser with their versions, your device type (desktop, mobile or tablet) and the script version. Visitors are counted with a hash computed from the request. For that day it groups your page views as one visitor; it is discarded after 24 hours and cannot recognize you on another day or follow you across other websites.

Performance measurements. We use Vercel Speed Insights to measure how fast the site loads in real browsers. For each page load it records the route and URL, your network speed category (such as 4g), your browser, device type and operating system, and your country. It also records the Web Vitals timings, the page element each one relates to, the SDK version and the time the measurement arrived. It does not use cookies and does not identify you.

Both measurements are sent to this domain and forwarded to Vercel. The legal basis for hosting, statistics and performance measurement is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in running the site securely, knowing whether it works, and understanding whether anyone uses it. You can object at any time (see Your rights), and the site works the same without the two measurements.

Your theme choice. If you switch between light, dark and system appearance, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key theme so it survives reloads. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is removed when you clear the site's data.

Nothing else. The site sets no cookies, has no accounts or forms, embeds no third-party content, and serves its fonts from this domain. There is no automated decision-making.

When you email us

If you write to hello@chessquant.com, we process your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message in order to answer you. Writing to us is voluntary, and what you include is up to you; we just cannot reply without an address. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling correspondence (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The mailbox runs on Apple's iCloud Mail service. We keep correspondence for as long as it is needed to deal with your request and any follow-up.

Who receives data

We do not sell data and do not share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

Your rights

Right to object. Everything described on this page is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest, so you can object at any time, for reasons arising from your particular situation, by writing to hello@chessquant.com. We will then stop unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds. The usage and performance statistics hold nothing we could match to you, so an objection to them cannot be applied to you alone, only to how the site measures visits as a whole.

Under the GDPR you can also ask for access to your personal data, have it corrected or erased, and restrict its processing. Write to hello@chessquant.com. Because the usage statistics are anonymous, we cannot find or delete an individual visitor's entries in them.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), uodo.gov.pl. You may instead contact the authority where you live.

Changes

This page will be extended before the site starts doing more, such as accounts or game imports, and the date at the top will change with it.
